Strength through Ceremony and Community
We practice ceremony everyday at PFS and this month, I have come to understand how important our prayer and our healing ceremonies are for our wellbeing. They to help us find strength and joy with our communities and families and allow us to connect in spirit even when we are not together physically.
PFS Round Dance:
We are so fortunate that Creator left space for us to celebrate and heal through our PFS Round Dance. I can still see the happy faces of the students from Piitoayis Family School, Colonel Walker School and Rosemont School. The sound of the drums, singing voices and shuffling feet helped us feel the heartbeat of our community.

Ceremony with the Land:
Being on the land, drumming, singing, praying and simply being and breathing. What a great way learn from all that the land has to teach us. Remember that we can connect with all our relations when we take time to find some natural spaces in our city during our time away from school.

Blackfoot Confederacy Health Symposium:
I was honoured to be surrounded by the language, ceremony, prayer and voices of Blackfoot Elders this month. They shared a powerful message of the importance of caring deeply for our children with loving guidance, respect and kindness. They taught us through modeling, stories, prayer and using their language to communicate ideas. We learned through deep, respectful listening and patience. I will take this teaching to my work with your children.
Take care of yourselves and your families with patience and love.
We miss you and can't wait to see you all again when we return to PFS.
